Martha Moss (maiden name Baylis) sentenced to seven days in prison, was born on 12 March 1837 in Mixbury, near Brackley. Her parents were John and Ann (maiden name Taylor) Baylis who had married in Mixbury on 21 November 1831. John had been born in Mixbury and Ann in nearby Finmere. Martha had two older brothers, William, and Joseph who died the year Martha was born, and one younger brother Josiah.
She married William Moss on 21 December 1857 at Over Norton. William was a sawyer born in Ascott. They do not appear to have had any children and Martha, although living in Ascott and working as a gloveress in 1881, was buried back in Mixbury when she died in 1882.
