Levia Dring (maiden name Moss) sentenced to seven days in prison, was born in 1828 in Ascott. Her parents were William and Hannah (maiden name Busby) Moss who were married in 1825. William was born in Ascott in 1790 and Hannah in Ascott in 1794. William had previously married Jane Pratley who was born in Ascott in 1790. She died in 1825 after giving birth to five children, Jemima, Hannah, Mary, William Francis and Jane Elizabeth – Levia’s step siblings. By his second marriage William had four sons, Philip, George, Joseph and John, and three daughters, Levia, Emma and Hannah.
Levia married James Dring in Ascott in 1855. James had been born in Ascott in 1831 and worked as an agricultural labourer. Levia worked as a gloveress. They had four daughters, Emma Sophia, Annie Maria, Mary Jane and Alice Eva.
Levia died in 1908 aged 80 having lived in Ascott all her life.
